Shanju yin (Song of a Mountain Recluse)

Shenqi mipu《神奇秘譜》(1425)

Versions of this piece usually played by contemporary qin players are passed down from the Guangling School of the Qing Dynasty. In this performance, the Ming Dynasty version of Shenqi mipu, which has more modal changes, is played. Similar to other versions, free rhythm is used throughout the piece. The piece is attributed to Mao Minzhong of the Song Dynasty. It describes the tranquil delight of a recluse living in the mountains.
